Terminal Descent - v0.0.8-alpha
Hey everyone! Big update to share - Terminal Descent has received a major content drop focusing on character customization and combat depth.

Dungeon Shops
Need supplies? Friendly shopkeepers have set up shop in the dungeon:
- Buy and Sell - Stock up on potions, scrolls, and equipment or sell your unwanted loot
- Scaling Inventory - Better gear becomes available as you descend (tier 2 at floor 3, tier 3 at floor 6)
- Dynamic Pricing - Prices increase 10% per floor, so stock up early when you can
- Sell Value - Offload items at 40% of their buy price
Shops have a 50% chance to spawn on each floor, with a guaranteed shop on floor 1 to help you gear up before the danger ramps up. Look for the shopkeeper (S) and press G to interact!

Six Playable Races
Choose your lineage, each with unique stat modifiers and special abilities:
- Human - Balanced stats, +10% XP gain (faster leveling)
- Elf - High DEX/INT, fragile but +1 vision range
- Half-Elf - Best of both worlds, +5% hit chance
- Dwarf - Tanky with high STR/HP, poison resistant
- Half-Orc - Devastating strength, +10% crit damage
- Halfling - Nimble and lucky, +5% dodge chance
---
Three Starting Classes
Pick your playstyle:
- Warrior - High HP and STR, starts with health potions and a rusty dagger
- Rogue - High DEX and accuracy, starts with teleport scrolls and an iron dagger
- Caster - High INT for spell damage, starts with fire scrolls, rations, and a basic wand
---
Physical Defense System
Armor now provides percentage-based damage reduction:
- Leather Armor: 10% reduction
- Studded Leather: 15% reduction
- Chain Mail: 20% reduction
- Scale Mail: 25% reduction
- Plate Armor: 30% reduction
Your physical defense now displays in the Resistances panel so you can see exactly how protected you are.
---
Status Effects
Combat just got more tactical! Enemies can now inflict status effects:
- Poisoned - Damage over time (scales with dungeon depth!)
- Bleeding - You're losing blood...
- Blinded - Reduced vision range
Watch out for snakes (poison), shamans (poison, blind), and berserkers (bleed)!
---
Spellcasting Enemies
The Goblin Shaman has arrived! These dangerous foes can cast spells from range:
- Maintains distance from melee
- Casts debilitating magic
- Watch for the spell projectiles!
---
Difficulty Scaling
The dungeon gets deadlier as you descend:
- Enemy HP, damage, and stats scale per floor
- Status effect damage now scales with depth (that poison hits harder on floor 10!)
- More enemies and traps in deeper levels
- Better loot to match the challenge
---
Stat Customization
During character creation, you now get 3 points to distribute among STR, DEX, and INT. Min-max your build or balance it out - your choice!
---
What's Next?
Working on more enemy variety, additional spells, and some quality-of-life improvements. Let me know what you'd like to see!
